"What a slice of heaven! Beautiful gardens and surroundings. Amazing wildlife. We saw deers, red squirrels, herons, kingfishers, grouse, pheasants, woodpeckers and had our very own resident bats. The accommodation was homely, immaculate and spot on! The lakes are pristine as are the fish. The owners have thought of everything and couldn’t be more attentive. We will be booking again for next year as this is our new favourite destination." Sara and Michael June 2022

We had an idyllic stay at Les Etangs du cert!
The accommodation was of a high standard  from the very comfortable beds and lovely bed linen to the modern bathroom with high quality towels.

The kitchen catered to all our needs and everything was of high standard. We loved the fact it lead straight to the outside table where we enjoyed all of our meals looking out to the lake! Absolutely heaven!

As a family of four we all enjoyed the swimming pool everyday and hot tub in the evening.  Loved laying by the lake and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

We would definitely recommend this holiday home!

We can’t wait to go back again!
Many thanks Lisa and Nathan for making our stay one to remember!

“After a great arrival we had at Les Etang du Cerf by Lisa and Nathan. I have loved every second on your domain. Everything beautifully maintained and a beautiful house where everything is provided for luxury. Thank you for the wonderful holiday we spent with you.” Benny and Eefje May 2022

“This idyllic gem, surrounded by enchanting forestland, provided us the perfect Summer retreat!

Just a 5/10 minute drive from the beautiful town of Gien, Les Etangs du Cerf showcased nature at its very best. With its serenity and stunning views across the lakes combined with amazing wildlife, we couldn’t have asked for more!

We enjoyed daily walks around the lakes and took in the beautiful views whilst having drinks or dinner in the seating area. We also made the most of the many wonderful places nearby and did everything from kayaking down the Loire to lunch and wine tasting in Sancerre. One of our favourite things to do was to rest and relax by the pool with some incredible French food and drink overlooking this stunning property and watching the sunset each night.

The hosts were very passionate about putting their guests’ experience first! They couldn’t do enough for us. Despite the fact I’ve only been fishing a couple of times in my life I enjoyed an afternoon fishing with the owner, Nathan, and caught a 35lb Grass carp, 22lb mirror carp and a pike! This was one of my favourite days and can only thank Nathan for explaining in very simple terms what I needed to do!

Lisa and Nathan were on hand for any advice about the local area and had some great recommendations about restaurants and local attractions. One of their suggestions led us to a petit pétanque tournament, which we watched watched with cold a beer whilst in Gien! Nothing was ever too much trouble and both Lisa and Nathan were always on hand and only too happy to help if needed.

We absolutely loved our stay at Les Etangs du Cerf and hope to be back again in the near future! Thank you Lisa and Nathan and congratulations on what you have created- it is a very special place! “ Alicia and Greg July 22

We were a party of 4 (older…) carp anglers who visited for a week 23rd September 22.

First of all the location and estate are stunning; 3 fishable lakes and about 20 acres to wander around in. Wildlife - fabulous we saw various lizards , lots of frogs! Hares, Black kites, Deer, Short Toed Eagles etc. All lakes are linked by well maintained and mowed pathways, bring a barrow as getting to swims can be a walk, Nathan did offer to trailer our gear around but we managed with barrows.

The fishing - Nathan the on-site owner is a carp angler and was very helpful with baits, rigs and bait placement and would visit each day but without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble - one day it was raining and we had set up for the day away from bivvies - without being asked Nathan turned up with an umbrella and a spare bivvy to prevent us getting wet - outstanding !! A bait boat is recommended as it made bait placement to far margins possible. Our visit coincided with a sudden drop in temperature and pressure which made the fishing very challenging but we managed a few fish topped out by a 44lb Mirror and a 36lb Grass Carp. Certainly I also beat my PB Grass Carp at 19lb which Nathan helpfully described as “the smallest in the lake” There seemed to be lots of big Grass Carp and a place to beat your Grassie PB. Nathan was very helpful trying to put us on fish, his on site boilies and pellets were first class and good value. He had a barrow to use on site and various sizes of buckets to borrow if needed.

With the house being there we all bivvied up in various locations on the main lake but barrowed rods and kit for day sessions on the other lakes. We did not night fish but spent the evenings socialising in the house. We had some success fishing up until 11pm.

The house itself is spacious (warm) and well appointed. There was a comprehensive welcome pack of food & wine in the fridge on arrival, plus cold beers as soon as we got out of the car, nice touch. There is a huge open fire place and an endless supply of logs. There is an excellent supermarket about 20 mins away in Gien.

We cooked breakfast and a main meal everyday and if we needed anything (eg a potato masher #English) it arrived almost instantly as Nathan and Lisa were only next door. Our hosts could not do enough to help you and were welcoming and attentive. Before we went we emailed lots of questions which were always quickly and thoroughly answered. The whole experience was a lesson in how a business should be run. So overall a fantastic well run venue, stunning scenery and a great place to relax at an unbelievable price - we had a great week (sorry about the amount of bottles….) thanks Lisa and Nathan we will be back !!
